The European Architectural Photography Prize architecturbild is world wide open since 1995.

Award

architekturbild, the European Architectural Photography Prize, has been awarded on a two-yearly basis since 1995. Since 2003, the prize has
been awarded by architekturbild e.v., a non-profit organization, and since 2008 in cooperation with the Deutsches Architekturmuseum, Frankfurt, and since 2016 with the Bundesstiftung Baukultur, Potsdam/Berlin.

Subject

The theme for 2019 is »Joyful Architecture«. Normally, architecture is characterized by terms such as utility, urban contextualization, economic feasibility, sustainability, and aesthetics. But we rarely think of architecture as comforting, fun and playful. Therefore, we would like to present examples of architecture that playfully and positively impact the built environment and its inhabitants. These examples can be understated or cliched, autonomous or in dialogue with their surroundings, hidden or obvious.

Requirements

Submissions should consist of a series of four photographs on this theme (as prints, maximum format: 40 x 40 cm; the longest picture edge must be at least 30 cm long, and no longer than 50 cm for panorama pictures). Only entries with exactly four photographs will be accepted. Only one entry per photographer. The photographs themselves should not be more than three years old. The photographs will be judged as a series. High technical quality in the submitted material is a prerequisite.

Entry Fee

The entry fee is 60 Euros. Along with the filled-out form, entrants should send
– 60 Euros in cash or
– proof of having transferred the entrance fee to the account of architekturbild e.v. (IBAN: DE07 6009 0100 0228 0100 04, BIC: VOBADESS).

Conditions of participation

The competition procedure is anonymous. The competitor confirms with his/her signature that he / she is the rightful owner of the photographs submitted. Third party rights must not be affected.
All photographs submitted must have a filled out label attached to the back (with a code number chosen by the entrant and details of location, date etc.). Entrants can download these labels and the entry form as a pdf document from www.architekturbild-ev.de. The code number chosen by the entrant must also be entered on the entry form. The name of the photographer should not be written on the photographs or their reverse. The entry form must be filled out completely and submitted to the organizers with the photographs and proof of payment of the entry fee to the address given below (see »Address for submissions«).
By submitting an entry, competitors in the European Architectural
Photography Prize architekturbild acknowledge the published conditions of participation. Contributions which do not conform to these rules may be rejected at a preliminary inspection. The organizers will not be liable for damage to or loss of photographs submitted. Photographs submitted will not be returned.
For entrants wishing their photographs to be returned, the entrance fee increases to a total of 90 Euro.

Closing date for entries
